Aspiring solar customers can now save hundreds or even thousands of dollars with the ConnectDER device, an invention funded by the SunShot Initiative.

Whereas conventional solar installation can be costly and slow for residents of homes with electrical service panels that are outdated or tricky to access, consumers with ConnectDER save between $500 and $3,000 on installation costs. Advanced versions of ConnectDER allow utilities to monitor solar energy generation at specific locations, ensuring reliability of power for customers.

Thanks to EERE funding, solar installation has become a simpler, less invasive, and less costly process — helping to significantly scale this clean power source.
